CARE Enterprises was created to harness the power of the private sector in pursuit of CARE’s social justice mission: to eradicate poverty and empower women and girls around the world.
We know that we cannot achieve this mission until all people have equal rights and opportunities. CARE Enterprises will therefore apply a “gender justice” lens across its investment cycle to challenge the unequal power dynamics that consistently hold back poor women in emerging markets.
Through working with our local CARE affiliates in the countries where we invest, we identify high-impact business models that enable economic inclusion for poor women as employees and consumers. Through a demonstration effect, we also aspire to evolve the entire impact investment industry towards adoption of these important gender-justice principles.
